* P.V. Sindhu becomes first Indian to win Badminton World Championships gold in the women's singles title.

* Sindhu defeated Japanese Nozomi Okuhara in a one-sided final.

* Sindhu won the gold with 21-7, 21-7 that lasted only 38 minutes.

* With this elusive gold, Sindhu became only the world's fourth singles player ever to have a full set of world championship medals.

* From here, Sindhu will directly head to Tokyo Olympics as the authoritative World Champion.

* It was her 3rd successive appearance in World Badminton Cup final.

* In 2017 Sindhu lost to Okuhara in 110 min, the longest final in the tournament's history.

* Her haul of 5 World  Badminton Cup medals ( 1 gold, 2 silver, 2 bronze ) is joint-most for any woman's singles player.

* Sindhu had four medals at the World Championships as she bagged bronze in the 2013 and 2014 while in 2017 and 2018 she claimed silver medals.

* Badminton Association of India (BAI) announced a cash reward of 20 lakh to PV Sindhu.

* Sindhu said, "I dedicate this award to my mom, it's her birthday today. Happy Birthday, mom."
